Where can I spend my 40th in August?

Holidays are my vert favourite thing, as such I really want to go on holiday for my 40th next August. It will be me and DD who'll be 19.

We love the Caribbean, we also went to NY in January this year and would love to go back, but I'm worried it'll be too hot in August. I've always said I'd like to spend my 40th in Las Vegas, but again, August in the middle of the desert isn't that appealing.

Any suggestions of a really nice place to spend my birthday?

Having watched the Olympics, I'd love to go to Rio.

Don't go to Vegas with a 19 year old. She will not be allowed in any of the casinos or bars which is part of the fun in Vegas. She will also not be allowed to drink. They are really strict and ask for ID. Im spending my 40th in Disney (big kid!)

Sorry, I didn't actually give you any suggestions! I love Rome, but it can be unbearably hot in August. Dubai is fun, but again hot. In fact most places are hot in August! Thailand? Lake Garda in Italy?

Im afraid weather wise in August you cant beat the med.
Carribean, dubai etc weather is either too hot or out of season.
How about the french riviera, greek or italian islands?

Poptart I'd love to spend my birthday in Disney! I'm not sure DD would be overly enthusiastic, although I think she could be tempted by the shopping in Florida!

What about the far east ? Bali is dry in August as is Malaysian Borneo. Combine with some shopping in Singapore or Hong Kong.

I went to the Champagne region of France for my 40th Birthday. On the actual day we did an organised tour and champagne tasting at three champagne houses. Plus lunch at a café in Epernay all laid on by Grape Escapes as we had paid for the day out. We had lovely steak frites in the evening at a pavement café which was in walking distance from our hotel.

We were staying in Reims. We had a fabulous meal at L' Assiette Champagnois in Reims.

We had got there by train from Paris.

A couple of days later we got on the TGV train to Beziers to continue our holiday on the canal du midi. Didn't get a canal boat but stayed in a nice apartment in the village by the canal.

Memories are made of this.

What about Monte Carlo? You can get the helicopter from Nice airport to make it a really special trip.
