If you had £2500 to spend on hotels and flights, where would you go in August 2017? Family of 4 - 2 adults, 16yr old and 12 year old. Open to all options.

South of France or Spain/Majorca etc or somewhere close -ish. Save on the flights; splurge on the accomodation as not a huge budget for 4. Would be looking at renting somewhere with a pool and nearby interesting activities.

Try Menorca maybe?

Have you looked at Eurocamps?

Can this budget do city breaks - Barcelona, Prague etc?

I spent £1,500 on 4 flights and 13 night accommodation in a 2-bwd apartment in a residential complex with pools a few minutes walk from the beach and the same from a restaurant strip.

Fly Stansted -> Murcia.
Owners Direct or Holiday Rentals for apartment.

Then get basics for breakfast - fresh bread, jam, fruits and lunch - bread & soup, cold meats, cheese, pizza etc. Eat out in the evenings. Spend under £100 per day.

So comes in at less than £2,500.

We've done a fortnight self catering in am apartment with shared pool, in both Murcia and Malaga areas flying from Bournemouth for under £1500, then eating out in the evening. Comes in at under £2500.

We used holiday settings for accommodation.

You'll easily do a city break to Berlin, Prague, Budapest, maybe other places with that budget.

Does it have to be a hotel? How many nights?

Costa Dorada seems to frequently come up cheaper than most of the rest of Spain when I look for holidays. We've been a few times now an have enjoyed it but fancy a change next year. It was coming up cheaper again a few days ago when we were looking for new the summer.
