We'd like to get the ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg and looking for somewhere nice to stay. Happy to travel up to 3 hours from Cherbourg. Any recommendations. Sleeps 5 +

I would move around a bit. We had a great trip a good 13 years ago, can't remember the exact name of the hotel but could have been Hotel Le Bayeux [original] which was nice - we ate at some amazing restaurants and saw the Tapestry. We also got a lot out of Le Memorial de Caen which took hours to see properly. Depends how old your kids are Wink

Do you want self catering or hotels or campsites?

We're just back from Benodet in south Brittany. Beautiful place with loads to do for kids if they'd be interested in watersports. Our campsite had great activities for teenagers to keep them busy. Not sure if you're looking for camping or a gite but the area has loads of options.
