If you want an apartment rather than a hotel try this company loving barcelona We had one just off Las Ramblas, it worked really well for a girly weekend.

we stayed here
www.feelbarcelona.com/en/barcelona-apartment/79/accommodation-barcelona-for-rent.php

please copy and paste as m links dont always work.

They even organsised transfers to and from airport. payed extra for this.

This place was at the top pf Las Ramblas and there were 5 of us. Easy to walk nearly everywhere from here. 3 mins walk to square at top of Las Ramblas where the tour buses go. you have to do tour bus, cheap and you can get on and off and you get to see everything, unlike metro.

Hello,
I took an apartment when we went over, in the Ramblas, as an effort to save money by having meals in - we never did in the end, but it was nice to have the space. You can walk around the city easily and the subway is very good, so you are never too far from anywhere. Tapas are great but it does add up, just remember NEVER to eat in anywhere on the Ramblas, it's soooo expensive, a complete rip off and just for tired/unaware tourists. We got charged shed loads for really poor quality tapas, we were completely done. Off the track and there are great restaurants. There was a great place in the old part of town by the harbour, but I can't remember its name. Faar more inportant is to bring cash for the shopping, it's fab, there are some really good shops which have different things than you get in the UK, so I'd love to go back just for the shopping.
