OP posts:
MrsBadger · 14/01/2007 18:32

yes of the 'We have £100 spare, shall we go to Barcelona or Prague?' type

We nearly had a minibreak in Edinburgh as I am being dragged up there for a meeting so work pays for my flights, but when we worked out cost of flights for DH, hotel etc it was still a bloody fortune.

Am borrowing a friend of a friend's cottage in west Wales somehwere for £100 for a weekend instead .

MrsBadger · 14/01/2007 18:32

we never get a holiday. none. nada. zip. zilch. zero.
so I'm very very very very jealous of anyone who gets a proper holiday, or weekend away or anything!
(yes, ok. we went to canada last year but it was to see my family. so despite having spent a small fortune we didn't really get a holiday. I came back severely messed up!)

Surfermum · 14/01/2007 18:38

No, not envious. But I'm easily pleased just going to Cornwall. I would love to have a weekend at the Fowey Hotel but can't bring myself to spend that much on just a weekend. Ok, so maybe a little .

Judy1234 · 14/01/2007 18:39

I would quite like someone to go away in my stead skiing on Saturday. Could you disguise yourself as me?

MrsBadger · 14/01/2007 18:39

we use PIL's friends for cottage contacts as they're all rich and retired, our mates are all skint like us. (FIL's latest wheeze is to buy a narrowboat, so free holidays forever )

Tis an arse when they're away so much though. If he goes somwhere exciting could you go and meet him there?

ledodgy · 14/01/2007 18:39

Yes I hate them they make me
We haven't been on holiday since 1999!

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 18:41

there is NO way i woudl disguise myself as you xenia.

I am 10 years younger for a start.

Cappuccino · 14/01/2007 18:43

I do so wish I could go away on business

dh does it rarely but makes it out like it's such a chore

such a chore not having to watch children plaster themselves with Ready Brek during your breakfast

such a chore not to have to make their damn sandwiches before you turn in

I would be happy with an overnight in a b&b in Heckmondwike

motherinferior · 14/01/2007 18:45

Cappy, my DP sent me emails from MonterbloodyRey last year about how much he missed us in between lighting the fecking log fire and drinking organic local chardonnay and gazing out over the fantastic scenery. Oh how my heart bled for the poor love as I stumbled around the Inferiority Complex like Missis Neanderthal.

Cappuccino · 14/01/2007 18:45

I would disguise myself as Xenia

but if you know anyone where you are going I'd advise against it

otherwise there may be questions asked about why you were drunk at 6am and laughing hysterically and constantly falling over

even when not on skis

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 18:46

my dh is all messed upw ith jet lag htough
i dont envy thimt hat
OR the fact he goes to farkign texas

OP posts:
motherinferior · 14/01/2007 18:46

and why you had mysteriously turned into strikingly non-identical twins.

Cappuccino · 14/01/2007 18:47

MI I have one word to say

well three actually

f*cking WEST INDIES

motherinferior · 14/01/2007 18:47

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If he dares to tell you it's a chore...

...well, I'll be your alibi.

snowfunwhenyoureknackered · 14/01/2007 18:48

yeah i'm dead jealous of anyone getting a weekend or even a night away, haven't had this in almost 9 yrs due to lack of ANYONE TO EFFIN HELP

mousiemousie · 14/01/2007 18:48

Xenia what aspect of\ your ski hols aren't you looking forward to?

Judy1234 · 14/01/2007 18:59

Not sure why I agreed to go.
Think everyone I'm going with will probably speak French most of the time which I won't easily udnerstand.
Have never left the children for a week in 22 years of having children.
Not sure all the things to be done here will be done and it's very hard to fix who will look after them between particular hours even though they're at school most of that time.
Don't know the people going with very well
Just went skiing anyway before Christmans and don't have the time or money to be away again (I don't get paid if I don't work
Think I was asked because I ski and think my friend is very good (his partner doesn't ski) and in fact I'm not very good at all.
Would rather be going with a man.

CountessDracula · 14/01/2007 19:03

oh cod just prioritise ffs (eg don't worry about eating etc)

or run up some mahoosive credit card bills

mousiemousie · 14/01/2007 19:31

Xenia I hope you have a lovely time - have lots of private ski lessons with a gorgeous male instructor which will be the next best thing to going there with a lovely man. Actually, spending lots of time with an instructor might even be better than taking a man of your own

WideWebWitch · 14/01/2007 19:33

Xenia, just don't go!

lol at Capp

MrsJohnCusack · 14/01/2007 19:40

texas is a boring place to go for business
I used to have to go, it was rubbish
flights were the best bit

my whole life is a holiday at the moment . lots of trips to the beach as it's only 20 mins away

onlyjoking9329 · 14/01/2007 19:50

no i don't envy anyone a holiday, we have lots of holidays.
i envy people whos kids sleep ALL night and people who have kids that are independant, and people who have people that will look after there kids.
