schooling requirements in Australia as temporary visitors?

hello..
just wondering if anyone knows what the rules are regarding requirements to school children (aged 7 and 10) in New South Wales, Australia if we are there temporarily on a 3 month Training and Research visa? DH has the visa to do some work at a Uni there next year and we don't really want to put the kids into school as we plan to travel around a bit, but can't seem to find any info on what the rules are (and haven't had any replies yet to relevant gov departments.) Any wisdom gratefully received, thanks!

Are they not just counted as being there in holiday rather than residents so wouldn't need to be in school anyway?

That is what I am hoping but the government website mentions the obligation to provide education to children if parents are on certain visas, and the information that we haven't been able to work out is whether the visa DH will have does require it.. Here's hoping for the holiday option! Smile

You need to be careful as you may be hit with international school fees. Some Australian visas have this.

Home schooling because of travel around the country and further is very common here. This may help www.hea.edu.au/ .

Can you home school from your county in the UK?

Best of luck.
