Anybody been?

Any good?

Is it worth £17 for family of 4?

How long does it take?

Oooh we went yesterday!!!!!

Do you live nearby?

We live in Swindon so it was only up the road for us.

I loved it, so did ds and I would definitly recommend it. HOWEVER a few things to bear in mind before you go.

I think you need to be prepared for the 'shabbyness' of it, and take it that, that is part of the charm of it all. And that it isn't very long. We probably only spent an hour to an hour and a half there.

The actual train ride is only a few minutes as you only go 2 miles up the track, then you get off and go through santas grotto, which has been decorated by volunteers so isn't very plush or commercial. See santa, have a cuppa, and back on the steam train.

Ds did get a very lovely present off Santa though (It's £6 a child, and I would say that Ds'wooden Noah's ark was worth at least that).

We than had a cuppa and cake in the cafe on the carriage.

I loved it, but then I like the old fashionedness of it all!

We are about 1/2 hour away. DS very into trains, so it sounds worth going. Was worried that the pressie would be rubbish but sounds quite good!

ooooh we were there as well yesterday! DS loved it and they had a band there as well, he's 4 and got a peter pan pirate set - def worth the 6 quid we paid for him to see Santa. Also it's worth knowing that although your £6 per child only allows for one visit to santa, the train ticket allows you to travel backwards and forwards on the steam train as many times as you like while you're there.

PanicPressiePants · 11/12/2006 19:37

Oh yes, I forgot to mention you can travel as many times on the train as you like!

sophy · 11/12/2006 21:22

Did you have to queue for a long time to see Santa?

Not long, maybe 15minutes. But it was moving all the time.
