short haul or UK with DD

DH and DS are off skiing next Easter and I would like to do something special with DD (8 yo).

If the break isn't too expensive ideally I'd like to go abroad with her (somewhere warm) but am a bit scared of going abroad without DH (i know, how lame!). On the other hand if I can't get a reasonably priced foreign hol, where would be good in the UK for a mum to spend some quality time with her DD?

Problem is easter is early next year so a lot of the traditional tourist areas and hotels may not even be open and the weather is March will be unpredictable. Maybe somewhere like the canaries which tend to be open all year round. It you wanted a city break then maybe Barcelona?

I took my DD (age 9) to the algarve for Easter this year. We had a fantastic time, there was plenty for her to do, the weather was gorgeous and it wasn't too pricey. I am a single parent so we often go away just the two of us. Our favourite UK holidays have been in the Isle of Wight, though the weather of course will be unpredictable at that time of year.
