What age - 5 or 6 to California

Morning all,

I was wondering what you all think. We would be doing Yosemite, Legoland, Sea World, Disneyland and some stopoffs along the way. It will probably be for 2-3wks. I have a choice between going when my ds will be just 5 or 6 years old.

I desperately want to go NOW (haven't had a holiday since ds was born , but I want him to be of an age where he will enjoy himself and be able to enjoy all the aspects of the holiday including hiking and the car travel.

I don't think the actual age will make much difference, tbh, it's more whether they are the kinds of things your ds enjoys anyway. I'd go asap!

If they're under 2 they get free transport on some airlines which affected us a bit. We got the twins to Antigua on that basis although it's a long time to have them on your knees. I took them to Disney World aged nearly 5 (..worst bit of a holiday of my life but there we are...) Not sure anyone enjoys car travel at any age. I think the older they are the better up to about 10.

Would say its one heck of a distance between Yosemite and Legoland (which is not far away from San Diego) if you plan on driving. Sea World is also near San Diego which is at least 90 minutes from Anaheim (where Disneyland is situated).

I'd go asap too but try to keep the distances between places manageable. Your son will thank you for doing so.

We are going next Aug for 4 weeks with our trio, they will be 9. We are doing, San Fran, Yosemite, Vegas, Sedona, Grand Canyon, San Diego, for Legoland, zoos etc! I would have gone sooner but hadn`t the money. We have taken them twice to Florida, they were 6 and 8, go for it and enjoy!
