How far would you be willing to travel with a 2 year old and a 11 week old baby? How long a car journey? And would you go abroad? We live in Birmingham and wondering if it's ok to travel to Brighton with them both

When DS2 was ten weeks we travelled to the UK (we live in France) it was a doddle, it's the two year old you need to consider imho!

We regularly drive from London to Manchester, and occasionally to Devon/Dorset/Cornwall with our twins (from when they were 6 weeks old they're now nearly 4). It just takes ages having to stop all the time - in the early days to feed, now for toilet stops. Best time to drive is at night, we put them in pyjamas and hope they fall asleep so we can power through!

With the 11 week old you need to consider how long they can safely be in a car seat at once (unless you have one of those new fangled lay flat car seats. You need to plan your rest stops accordingly...

Def. our most adventurous was to Vietnam for 2 month backpacking! When ds1 was 18 months, and ds2 10 weeks. Was very easy actually as both just went in slings when we wanted to get anywhere fast, youngest slept lots, and eldest occupied by a stick

We went to Turkey when ours were that age. It is easier to travel with a baby than a 2 year old but we had a great time.

we did long haul to san francisco couldnt have been easier. is there some rule about 'safely in a car seat'? ... with mine if they are not screaming of boredom and their pants are dry they are fine for hours and hours..

france. we've also done 5 year old, 3 year old and newborn to france. allow time for stops, try and make them tierd before the journey,
