We're in the process of booking next year's summer holiday on the Greek island of Thassos (me, DP, DD(7) and DS(5)). Car hire will be £600 for the fortnight and we're just wondering if we'll really need a car while we're there. We'll be staying in a lovely small hotel complex with a pool less than a mile from Thassos town - so easy to reach the local beach and tavernas. Although we're likely to spend a good part of our time there we would definitely like to explore the island a bit and go to a few other beaches around the coast. I've checked online and it looks as if there's a pretty good bus service to lots of places around the island (including different beaches).
Would we be mad not to take a car? Or do you think we could manage (and save ourselves a packet!) by taking the bus?
Thanks
