Hi everyone,
I'm looking to put together a surprise long weekend trip to Edinburgh at the end of October for my husband.
We live next to Southampton airport and I know there are flights to Edinburgh on a number of days.
Neither my husband nor I have ever been to Scotland, so I'd love some recommendations for hotel accommodation, places to go, maybe good car hire companies etc.
I'm hoping to do a 3 night break, potentially hiring a car to get us to the hotel (close to Edinburgh so we can get a train or bus in), unless we look to stay in the city and explore it from there, but I'd also like to get to into the countryside - we're 'views' kind of people - for one of the days. Are there must-see places we could either drive to if we were outside of the city, or get a bus/coach tour to if we were in Edinburgh itself.
I haven't got a set budget but I'd like a spoil ourselves kind of weekend, as long as we're not talking megabucks.
Any ideas would be great as I'm one for recommendations, rather than booking blind.
