Carcassonne and Canal du Midi

We're going to Carcassonne for the day and would like to visit the Canal du Midi, preferably to see a lock (for DC's entertainment).

Can anyone suggest where we could go to do that? We're staying south of Perpignan so east of Carcassonne would be more convenient.

We stayed in a town called Trebes, we had our caravan so stayed at a site called ombré de microcouliers.
You have to drive to carcassonne or you can cycle along the canal du midi from there. Also from our site we walked to canal and had a nice meal in one of the restaurants on the side of the canal,

We're just back from a stay in Colombiers, which is on the canal. No locks here (but I believe there are some nearby in Beziers), but there is a tunnel you can walk through just outside the village. There's a sort of marina in the village where you can hire small boats, and a wee island you can cross on to.

Thanks! We went to Trebes and it was perfect. A triple lock and two boats arrived at the same time as us so we were able to watch them in action. Flowers
