South (ish) Cornwall - cottages by sea

My sister's getting married in Plymouth and we want to combine it with a family holiday for a week in July next year. Anyone know of good places/towns to stay (Polperro? St Ives?) which are near beaches and family friendly (kids 6 and 2). Any cottage recommendations?

If it's outside school hols there should be loads - if not you might struggle for a nice one. Have you got a date?

God yes, look at these, Niche Retreats Have stayed in 2 of them, they're great. And they put your shopping away before you get there if you order a Tesco shop. The Boat House is RIGHT on the beach, really wonderful.

We have stayed in several cottages from Classic Cottages (www.classic.co.uk) and are very impressed with their quality. They only cover the west country and have plenty in Cornwall.

A date? - (oh dear) - she's chosen 21st july (which means high season). Perhaps it would be cheaper to buy camping equipment and camp - any good quiet campsites does anyone know. I've looked at the niche retreats and it looks fab but we need to go Sun-Sun and most are Fri-Fri changeovers

Ah, July. Well you will mostly be paying a fortune then then. Or some places will already be booked.

National Trust cottages between Fowey and Polperro are excellent at Triggabrowne
You can walk down to wonderful beaches at Lantic Cove and Lantivet Cove

Polperro is a great place to stay. We go there every Easter, it's one of my favourite places in Cornwall (although it's hard to choose) and has the best pub in the world, the Blue Peter. You could try on the Polperro website Polperro .

This place is just outside Polperro and is a Sunday changeover Blanches

I second niche retreats - stayed with them after them being recommended on here. We stayed in Porthleven where they have quite a few....
