I would love to visit Cambridge for a weekend break with my DH. Our 16 year old son will be with us (he's special needs so unless we get an offer we can't refuse he tags along with us. However he is dotty about church choirs and organs and I'd love to show him the real thing eg kings college choir. I'd also love to show DH the beautiful buildings and streets that I remember Cambridge being. (I lived there for 3 years about 20 years ago). Where would you recommend I stay?

Cambridge was named as one of the worst places for hotels in the country. The best hotel is the Hotel Felix on the Huntingdon Road but that is some way out of town. The hotels in town (University Arms, Garden House, Gonville, Crowne Plaza) haven't much to recommend them. The Arundel House hotel on Chesterton Road (facing the river) is OK and probably cheaper than those mentioned above and is within walking distance of town.
B & B might be better. This place has good ratings.

The hotels are expensive and just regular corporation trouser press types. My brother and his wife stayed at the Felix after their wedding and that was lovely.
I've stayed at The University Arms and Crown Plaza (which is wonderfully central).

I hope you get one of those misty mornings on King's Parade. So pretty.
