Thomas Day Out at Didcot - how long is the train ride?

Has anyone done the Thomas Day at Didcot Railway? How long is the actual train ride? When we did one at Quainton in Bucks the ride was really only a bit of a chug up and down a short track, and DSs were hoping for more of a "journey" really.

Last time i was there, it was a short chug, the track is just within the centre. If you want a journey, the Watercress Line, the Bluebell Railway or Swanage Railway are good.

Chinnor & Princes Risborough is a 7-mile ride apparently but they won't have Thomas again before Christmas. (They'll have Santa Specials though)

And Cholsey & Wallingford is 2½ miles

Yes ideally we want Thomas in early December with a decent ride, but it looks like all the ones that go any distance pretty much go over to Santa Specials then.

We did the Didcot one a few years ago, I was disappointed, short ride and not much happening. the best one we've done is Lydney, Forest of Dean. Toddington near Cheltenham is quite good. Both are probably a bit too far to go if you in Bucks.

Yes well - suspected as much. Thanks for the tip offs.Sadly it HAS to be Thomas and not a Santa Special.
