Go up the funicular, and then walk back down through the park (Petrin Hill?) to get to the castle - a lot easier than trying to walk up!

Top tip for shopping is traditional toys - loads of wooden puppets, and other wooden things, not only in shops, but in little markets dotted round everywhere.

We bought a wooden nativity theatre for ds in September - so you'll probably find loads of Christmassy things by now.

When we went one October we managed to find some glass Christmas decorations and there were other decorative items in the craft shops.
Take some strong shoes/trainers as the cobbles can be quite uncomfortable to walk on.
Beer (lager) and pizza lunches in a restaurant were cheaper than a Pret sandwich in London.
Enjoy yourselves

If you haven't left yet, and are going to do the up the funicular/down the hill walk to the Castle, check out the little shops down the hill. The ones above the castle especially have some of the same stuff as the town centre ones, but at lower prices. There's a lovely one (called something like "Hracky" I think) which has all kinds of old fashioned tin wind up toys Although you probably couldn't sell them as toys here now they make good Christmas presents for the older males in your family (well in my family anyway).

Don't know if you've left yet.

I realise this can happen anywhere but went to Prague last year with girlfriends. Only been their 2hrs when friend had her bag stolen in Wenceslas Square. We were sitting having a drink. Think it may have been the artists that were going around the tables.

We did have a great time though and of course this happens in all cities.

Have a great time.
