Cathay or Virgin to Hong Kong

Just found some great prices for flights to HK at the end of the year. Prices for Virgin and Cathay are roughly the same, flying from Heathrow. Has anyone been on either route recently? Which one would you recommend? Anyone know which is more child friendly?

I have flown with both before but not for a few years.

Cathay have always been great... I'm not sure if it's true but I was once told that Cathay have access of Chinese airspace that other airlines don't have so their flights are shorter.

Ive flown both (though Cathay was a few years ago now). If you're flying economy I don't think it makes much difference. Virgin provide free infant seats if that helps.
