Car seats for taller babies

I need advice on a car seat for my 6 month old baby. He is exceptionally tall, not suprising having a mother of 6'2", and has out grown his baby carrier (mamas and papas primo viaggio)as the top of his head is now at least level with the top. He is however less than the recommended 9/10Kg for the next stage car seat and also only 6 months old. He is also able to sit unsupported for as long as he likes. Does anyone have any advice on the appropriate next stage car seat?

Can you get a combined stage 0/1 car seat? These are designed to be used from birth to about 4 years, so are much bigger. You use them rear facing until the correct weight. Leg length doesn't matter - if his legs are longer than seat he will learn to fold them to stay ocmfortable.

We had the same problem with both our children! (I'm 5'11"). We were told that weight is the most important factor and kept them in the first stage car seat until they were heavy enough to move them. I would recommend that you contact people like Britax or ROSPA (Royal Society for the Prevenmtion of Accidents) both of which I've contacted successfully in the past for most recent advice for this. This can be done through their 'contact us'on their websites.
(btw, get used to this as you'll have problems all the way through the seats - our 7 year old daughter is now the height of an 11 year old. When we took her into Mothercare to have her booster seat checked out with the new legislation the store were shocked as they were told "that they would never see a 7 year old taller than 135cm". Well here's one said me .
Good luck

I had the same problem with ds, also in a primo viaggio. We moved on to a Britax First Class which is a Stage 0/1. It starts rear facing then turns when they are old enough, so it should see you through a couple more years. Ds has just grown out of it in the last couple of months (he's 2.9) and moved into a highback booster.
