I'm buying now. Literally now. I've just put £500 on my Euro card for the summer.

AnyFucker · 24/03/2015 21:52

what exchage rate you got ?

erm, and what's a Euro card ?

I got 1.34. It's a card that you load up with euros, then use as a debit card in Europe (I'm sure it's got a generic name that I can't remember). Ours is an ICE travel money card.

lottiesatitagain · 24/03/2015 22:09

Buy now. It has already risen slightly.
I see it only going one way.

AnyFucker · 24/03/2015 22:16

we usually take a couple of hundred euros in cash and use our usual debit/cash card to take out more cash as needed

I know that isn't the best and safest way though

am not good at this stuff....I miss traveller's cheques Wink

Don't take out more cash then you normally do then. It is not worth the risk on the amount it will rise. Most UK banks let you open a Euro account now.

Hi AF. We're in Europe at the moment and put euros onto a Thomas Cook cash card for a few weeks before we travelled as the rate has been so good. The cash card is like a debit card, except you have to put the money on it before you spend it. Handy if you don't want to take too much cash but also handy if you want to put money on it before you go whilst the rate is good.

AnyFucker · 24/03/2015 22:47

Am gonna do that, ilmt

are you having a lovely time ?

Euro has rallied against sterling in the last week. About 10 days ago the rate was nudging 1.40.

My treasury manager at work though thinks the euro will weaken again so I am holding fire for a bit longer.

desperatedino66 · 25/03/2015 10:20

I'm not sure what to do. I need to get about £800 worth for July, but the rate seems to be falling. We would have been 20 euros better off if I done it last week.

I have an asda travel card so I just load that up and there is no fee for withdrawals abroad.

AnyFucker · 25/03/2015 18:24

Don't tell me that, 66 !

grr, have I missed the boat ?

where was my email from Martin Fecking Lewis ?

OP posts:
ssd · 25/03/2015 18:28

there's a bit from Martin about this and what's recommended to buy, though of course he cant tell us when to buy in case it actually goes up more

ssd · 25/03/2015 18:30

sorry also meant to say theres a bit about travel money cards, and with some of them you can get extra money if you open them with more than £500-700 on them
