Coventry and surrounding area - days out recommendations?

We have a free night at a hotel in Coventry at the end of the Easter Holidays.
Monday 13th is an inset day, so I thought we could take the boys to Drayton Manor (they are 5 and 8) and it shouldn't be too busy (unless everyone else has an inset day on the Monday!)

No point in wasting the Sunday though, so wondering what to do that day as we'll probably be there for about lunchtime. Would like it to be an outdoors kind of day. Can take a picnic. They need to be able to climb and play. I have looked on the 'things to do' sites, but frankly I'm a bit overwhelmed - we don't know the area at all.

Not Warwick castle as we have been there already. And preferably on the way to Coventry (A14 via Kettering etc, then M6 Rugby region) so as not to make the drive much more than an hour

Any ideas?

Kenilworth Castle
Coombe Abbey
War Memorial Park
Transport Museum (if wet)

What did you think of those choices?

Kenilworth looks good. Castle might be an issue as DH is a pain in the ar*e when it comes to heights (its a long story but he ruined our warwick castle trip)
Coombe Abbey - thats a hotel right? but Coombe country park looks nice with some good play areas and quite near the hotel so will try and visit there. Ditto for War memorial park although its a bit further away (from the hotel I mean) so would choose Coombe over it.
Transport museum would consider if its wet but I don't think the boys will be that interested.
Also looked at Plantasia. Could fit that in, in the morning, then elsewhere in the afternoon depending on weather.

It's been ages since I went inside Kenilworth Castle, but as it's a lot more of a ruin than WC I'm not sure there are any heights really.

It was Coombe Abbey Park I was thinking of. I forgot it had a hotel in the middle of it!
