Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna: long queues?

We are heading off to Vienna in April for a short break and are planning to visit the Kunsthistorisches Museum. I don't know whether it's one of those attractions where you have to get there really early or you'll be queuing for ages to get on, or whether queue times aren't likely to be a problem. Anyone been recently?

No, but hoping to go in August. Did you know there's a video on Amazon called The Great Museum which is a behind the scenes of the 2013 renovation. (Found out as I picked up a leaflet about Austrian Cultural stuff in London - it is being shown at the Austrian Cultural Centre in London on Tues 24th March)

The above link may prove helpful to you.

I would buy the tickets online in advance (have done this with other museums) and it saves queuing up for a long time.

Hi there,
I went last year for the weekend, there were no queues at all. We had pre-booked tickets, really easy to do online. I guess it is possible that there was another entrance for on-the-day admissions, but saw no sign of one. It's fabulous, have a great time!

Thanks for the replies. I had thought about buying tickets online, but quite fancy getting an audioguide, so if we're going to have to queue for that anyway, I'd thought not much to be gained by buying the tickets online. But I guess online tickets would at least give us the option of not bothering with audioguides and just going straight in if queues are long.
