myself and my "best friend" (female) are planning a long weekend escape sometime between now and next Feb
anyone got any tips on where to go/what to do?
so far we've been thinking Spa weekend OR short city break (Paris, Barcelona, Rome have all been mentioned). We are leaving the kids at home and we are both a bit too old/exhausted to be interested in clubbing/late nights but like nice meals/art/culture...or a w/e of pampering would be fab too
we'll be trying not to break the bank but can help there by booking early
oooooooh,am excited even contemplating it........
she is phoning tonight to discuss so - ideas anyone?

we are now thinking of somewhere in England in nice countryside (for walks etc) which is low key, maybe with some massage or other relaxing therapy available...

anyone?

Can't help you with UK breaks, but I can certainly second Prague. I went with a few girlfriends a couple of years ago - if you stay central everything is within walking distance, it's cheap, very pretty and has really nice food. We went in November so caught the beginning of the lovely Christmassy feel - the markets are fun to browse though there is lots of tat. I got some great Christmas presents there.

Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire - went two weekends ago - absolutely fabulous - you can pay just standard rate - and then add on extra treatments if you want. They have a website - just google Hoar cross hall - highly recomend it! Fantastic spa facilities. food, service, rooms - I could go on!
