Hotels in Crete - Elounda or Agios Nikolaos

Anyone been to Elounda or Agios Nikolaos in Crete? I have been looking at Daios Cove and the Blue Palace. They both look gorgeous but just wondering if anyone had been to either or any other hotel in that area and could recommend it. I'm travelling with DH so don't need kids facilities etc and we will be going in May.

I've been to Ag Nik. DH and I stayed at the St Nicolas Bay hotel but end Sept/beginning Oct 2006. It's 5*. It is a way out of the town so you may need to get taxis. It does have a tiny private beach of it's own. Agios Nikolaos is a proper working town and port, cruise ships stop there, there is a small archaeological museum as well. It's a good place to go on trips to other archaeological sites.
