well it's hardly somewhere you'd choose to go!!

there is no where nice to stay in Coventry and precious little nice in the city

MeAndMyBoy · 04/10/2006 11:48

{http://www.coombeabbey.com/\Combe Abbey} is lovely although pricey, but lovely to visit even if you don't stay.

{http://www.locallife.co.uk/coventry/hotels3.asp\Local Life} lists some other hotels. Been to a conference at the Royal Court and that was nice too

Warwick Arts theatre for a show/something in the evening.

Restaurants round Cov:
Browns in the City - trendy place.

Nightclub and bars/restaurants - go to the snowdome

There are others more out of the city that are nice - couple of Pubs that have a really good food range and atmosphere in Ansty Village - Rose and Castle, and Shilton Arms in the next village out.

any help?

H x

Stay at Coombe Abbey here

MeAndMyBoy · 04/10/2006 11:50

lol Zippitippitoes - quite agree never wanted to move into the bloody place and still trying to get back out 4 years later.

HuwEdwards · 04/10/2006 11:51

The Gallery Restaurant in Earlsdon is good - featured in the Observer Food Guide. Ryton Organic Gardens has a lovely restaurant too.

HuwEdwards · 04/10/2006 11:54

Look at the Coventry visitor website

zippitippitoes · 04/10/2006 11:58

what do you want to do, does the competition finish late/ are you clubbers or romantics? or foodies?

minxy125 · 04/10/2006 12:25

The competition is on sunday, finishes about 5ish?? Thing is it's the first time away from ds, so I'm really up for anything!! Used to be a mad clubber, but dh is a older than me and I don't think he would enjoy it. So maybe a nice meal, wouldn't rule out clubbing but he has to be careful of hangovers with the competition!! The last thing you want with hangover is someone trying to spar you to the ground!! I on the other hand am going to make the most of being a non mummy for the weekend!! So any good bars restaurants or clubs will all be looked into!! Also what is the shopping like there??

Shopping is kind of ok. I tend to go to Nuneaton or Brum which is very close if you go by train only takes about 20 mins.

The lower precinct has been refurbished recently and there are a few more shops now and a couple of nice cafes for coffee and cakes.

minxy125 · 04/10/2006 15:41

Thanks for all the suggestions so far..... Thanks huwedwards will show dh when he is home for work, looks lovely!

Why don't you stay in Warwick or Stratford instead? Both are very close to Cov...

chocolatemummy · 15/10/2006 18:04

ouch, I am moving to coventry in december,
glad some of you have some positives to say and places to go.

helsy · 27/10/2006 23:27

Coventry's fine Chocolatemummy, I lived there for 5 years, had a house there for 7 years, still have friends there. It's friendlier than a lot of places!
