Slight note of caution if you are heading there over half term, or probably any time in next few weeks. There is a timed ticket system for the new First World War exhibition at peak times, which we found was 2.5 hours from our entrance time. We did eventually manage to go in earlier than our allocated time as we had other things arranged for the afternoon but otherwise you have to wait even if there is no queue Hmm or go after 3.30pm. The museum itself was very busy but the war art gallery on the 2nd floor quiet if poorly signed. However the new gallery was definitely worth the visit, evocative and informative, although quite a lot of exhibits in a small space.

That seems really odd if there is no queue.

But perhaps they've put it in place for half-term? Especially so close to the Festival of Remembrance (heard on the traffic report that there are loads of people seeing the ceramic poppies at the Tower).

Go in the side entrance not the front one...they are also giving out tickets but with much shorter waiting time!!
