What do you do about a carseat when you're staying with people in the UK?

I would like to take 18mth ds to visit relatives without the car - but would travel in relatives' car while we're there. What does everyone do for a carseat in this situation? Anyone got good experience of hiring one?

I would be flying or going on the train - don't think I could manage to take it with me.

We take ours, it goes in the hold of the plane, no charge either. I can see itwould be more of a problem on a train.

Perhaps the car hire companies might now start hiring them now, since there will be a market?

we bought one for my mum to keep in her car. argos do one for about 25/30 quid if your rellies would be prepared to store it for when you need it.

get relatives to buy one 4 u? u can get one 4 about £40, and sell on ebay when u leave to get most of money back!

you can hire them - our local Budget rent a car has a facility to hire them (and with separate weight/age categories). I imagine the only downside is that you would probably have to hire a car aswell! Worth asking if they do them separately though.

Thanks all. I think the best idea would be to get them to buy a cheap one. Foxinsocks, I think you may be right about having to hire a car as well, but worth giving it a go!
