I have stayed here . The bar at the very top of the hotel is to die for. At night the Effiel tower is lit up and you can see panoramic views all over Paris. It is within walking distance of a lot of the sights. One draw back with the bar, it is VERY expensive. But we enjoyed our stay. . I did not use the site I have linked to to book through, it was the first one that came up with the hotel details when I googled.

If money is no object Hotel Costes is fabulous. Very trendy, great decor and a pool in the basement. Much frequented by musicians.

If you want something more on a budget, Hotel Odeon(I think - I'll check) in Rue St Sulpice is simple but nice and midway in between is the Jeu de Palme on Isle St Louis which is in an old squash court and v interesting.

Caron Des Beaumarchais (spelling?) small hotel in Marais - cheap and nice. Perfect base for exploring.
