Lufthansa to Munich- will we be fed?

I tried to make a special meals booking but it won't allow me. Does this mean ewe don't get fed? The flight leaves at 11am and arrives at 2pm local time.

Went on this flight a couple of months ago. I phoned them in the end. The deal is you get a sandwich type thing - choice of veggie or meat. On the day we went it was pizza or a hot chicken sandwich. Not fancy but okay for lunch. The sandwiches on the way back were horrible though so it's clearly a bit variable!

On most flights no food now if less than 2 hrs 15 long. Assuming yours is 2 hrs with time difference I guess no

DrankSangriaInThePark · 19/08/2014 20:55

Yes, you get a mini pizza type thingy. Munich airport is my new favourite place in the world.

Wiifitmama · 19/08/2014 20:59

Ok thanks. Pizza or sandwiches fine for the kids. Dh and I are gluten free so will bring our own. We need to get onto trains after the flight (2.5 hours in total) so haven't got time to look for food in here airport beyond just grabbing a water bottle or something. Dinner at the hotel when we get there so should be ok.

The sandwiches are a bit strange. I pretended to be veggie to avoid the tuna and ham (in the same sandwich!) And was given cheese and courgette. The return (Lhr-mun) was spinach pizza thingies- at 7am!
Excellent service and flights though.

Oh but you must quickly grab some fresh sandwiches/cakes/coffee from the bakery/ cafe type places you see when you come out of arrivals in terminal 2. Yum.

Or there is a McDonalds in the square between T2 and the train station entrance.

Wiifitmama · 20/08/2014 09:09

So on the same subject, do you think there will be snack food available to buy on the trains?

Not sure about longer trains, probably not on the shorter ones - hour or so.

Wiifitmama · 22/08/2014 21:12

Ok thanks. The longest leg is about 1.5 hours so probably no food. Ok, will try to grab something at the airport.

We had a 10am flight to Frankfurt and were offered muffins and hot drinks. The return flight was at 4pm and it was hot rolls with something that was pretending to be bacon and egg - not nice.

I always pick up a couple of meal deals at boots after we've gone through security because DDs so fussy.

BasketzatDawn · 27/08/2014 21:30

Re-trains, if it's a 2 1/2 hour journey total you can't be on train for long? The faster trains do have food - ICE and possibly CE. The slower ones, no.

HerbWoman · 29/08/2014 01:57

Just sandwiches on the flight, and nothing gluten free at all. I always make a point of asking though, and they always look suitably sorry when they don't have anything I can eat.

Wiifitmama · 29/08/2014 15:21

I knew there wouldn't be anything gluten free sadly. I plan to bring our own for me and hubby and accept what they offer us as we'll and then give it to my teenage son who eats enough for 4!
