Things to do in southern Brittany

We're off to a small village near Damgan (near Muzillac, 30mins south-east of Vannes) for 2 weeks.

Any suggestions of places to go? We have beaches close by, but any recommendations of good water parks, cycle routes, special beaches, etc gratefully received.

DC are 5.5 and 3.5, love swimming and bikes. We'll have my folks with us too, both keen on water parks!

Thanks!

i always used to buy a detailed map. this meant that we always found really nice out of the way beaches with no-one on, or lovely places with nice views to picknick at.

men du beach at carnac is one of our favourites, but not sure how far its from u. we also used to like going to the golf du morbihan - lots of little inlets with little fishing villages - maybe not espec exciting, but involved an amble around, maybe an icecream and some lunch. the standing stones at carnac if they aren't too far.

vannes and auray are really attractive old towns. not sure how busy they are at peak time - they were nice slightly off season

We live about 10 minutes from Damgan and run a gite too - there's loads to do! if you can tell me where to send it we've got a list of things we've tried and recommend that we send to our guests, otherwise the tourist office will have loads of stuff too...

Vannes has a fab market on weds and Sat but go early to park.
Isle aux moins has a little boat across from near Arraddon and you can hire bikes to go around it.
Boat trips around the gulf of morbihan. Visit the standing stones at Carnac.

The beaches near penestin are spectacular. Vannes is a nice town for a wanderer and a shop . I found Carnac to be horribly busy and touristy.

Brilliant, thanks everyone. I'm sure there will be some info when we arrive but it's nice to have a look before and use the wonders of the www!

We're definitely aiming to do a mixture of towns, beaches and general mooching.

jenpetronus have pm'd you.
