Portsmouth for a day

We're catching an early evening ferry from Portsmouth on bank holiday Saturday, so everywhere is likely to be heaving. We're driving down from London at the crack of dawn to beat the traffic, so we have the whole day in Portsmouth. Any suggestions of where to go for lunch?

We'll have the car, stuffed to the gunnels with stuff for the holiday. Where's the best place to park that's handy for
The Mary Rose. Any other tips?

It's me, DH, DS1 (3.5) and DS2 (17m)

HMS Victory?

If you're coming down the A3 and the weather is good stop at Staunton Country Park & Farm (just outside of Portsmouth) really lovely place to spend a morning with the DC's. Not sure on parking I'm afraid as Saturdays are usually pretty manic!

Lunch-wise take a look at Gunwharf Quays website - loads of places to eat! Also if the weather is shocking there is a cinema there.

Obviosuly there is Mary Rose, HMS Victory and there is the shopping at Gunwharf keys. But you could head to Southsea where there is the D-Day museum and blue reef aquarium, maybe not as busy, head east to clarence pier area and get some fish and chips by sea side?
