We're going in a couple of weeks for a fortnight with DH & 3 DSs (ages 7, 5 & 3) so if anyone has any hints / tips / advice on things to see / do / take / restaurants etc, then that would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi onedev, we went 2 years ago and had a fab time. Campsite is huge so we rented a cart to haul around our then 4 yr old. We went with Bolero who were absolutely great, they are a small family run company with well located mobile homes. We didn't hire a car and never felt we needed one. There are 3 different pool areas, and campsite is on the beach. Lots of restaurants and 2 supermarkets on site. We only left campsite once on a day trip to Venice (which was only so/so) think our kids were too young and it was waaaaaay too hot. One day I went into the Union Lido hotel which has a spa. Cant remember how much it was but it was very reasonable €8?? or something and spent a few hours basking and cooling off in a bit of child-free luxury. Only problem was the mosquitoes , we were eaten alive by Tiger Mosquitoes (huge flipping things) so buy lots of spray and citronella and have a great holiday.

Thanks for that Skyler, we're going with Bolero too for 2 weeks, so hoping it's good!

Hadn't realised about the Mosquitos - I get eaten alive in England so dread to think what I'll be like!!

Bought the candles now so hopefully they'll help! Thanks!

How long did you go for? We're going for 2 weeks, so is there enough to do on the campsite for that length of time? We'll definitely go to Venice for at least 1 day as want to make sure the boys experience it (although not sure what to see / do there).

Bolero looks great but worried we'll be bored for 2 weeks as maximum we've ever gone away together as a family of 5 is 10 days! I'm also slightly worried that given the size of the campsite, one of us will end up getting lost!!

I've got some sort of Centerparcs vision in my head Shock

Hi onedev, we went for 2 weeks in 2012, with our 3 boys, then aged 9,7 and 4. Have to say we had a ball, never felt bored or trapped or any of that. I like to run and had a great stretch around the circumference of the site most mornings. Never felt like campsite was small or cramped as we alternated our days to beach and pool. (there are 3 different pools areas on site) we ate out in restaurants most nights, but bolero ran a bolero barbecue night thursdays???? each week so it was nice to socialise with other Bolero campers. all in all it was a great holiday and our kids still talk about it. It a very safe site and if memory serves me they don't allow cars in but you should check this as I wasn't taking it in as we didn't have a car. You should hire one of the bolero carts to pull any smallies, and if you can hire bikes it would probably be a good idea for you bigger kids. Don't worry you will have a ball, don't know about Centreparcs (as from Ireland) enjoy + go to Venice relax it'll be grand x x

Thanks Skyler - appreciate you coming back to me as I've been panicking a bit today about us all going a bit stir crazy - we've never done a 2 week holiday nor gone to somewhere like this!!

Will definitely go to Venice too so that should be good.

[I'm from NI & had never heard of Centerparcs either before living in England - we went to one a couple of years ago & was completely unimpressed, so you're definitely not missing anything Grin].

We did two weeks with bolero two years ago with dd 6 and ds 3. It was fab. Perfect holiday. Lots to do. Take a daytrip to Venice too.

gymboywalton · 03/08/2014 22:23

we went to ca savio which is nearby
brill place to go

but take the mosquito thing seriously-they are around ALL DAY
they bite through jeans and everything
take shedloads of jungle formula stuff and COVER yourselves in it

we all got got eaten alive-my feet were swollen i could only wear flip flops

onedev · 03/08/2014 23:13

Thanks all! We've just spent a small fortune on Amazon buying anti-bug stuff, so hopefully that'll help!

I get eaten alive in this country so keep your fingers crossed for me that I survive Shock
