i have called thomas cook, after waiting for 29 mins i am told you can take a car seat on boards the flight but:

  1. it must have a metal or plastic base or frame (not polystyreen)
  2. Must have a 5 point harness
  3. Must not be wider than 16 inches

he then proceeded to give me a list of manufacurers to ring for advice regards the best car seat to take. After speaking to Britax they said there narrowest car seat is the Freeway (17.5 inches) ad the lady i have just called at maxi cosy has said there smallest width car seat is the priory (at 17inches)

so now i am stuck, and everyone i have to ring seems to be at least a 30 min ring time to get connected and on top of this a 16 inch width car seat doesnt seem to exist?????

please please any advice would be great....

For SAS their max is horizontally 65 cm/25 in, height 45 cm/18 in

16inches must be wrong - if that's their seat size then my size 14 bum wouldn't fit!!!

How long is your flight?

Kelly1978 · 14/09/2006 13:52

mine is jsut under that at it's narrowest setting, it is the bebe confort iseos, and is adjustable. here

Does seem very narrow and have even just checked our Freeway and think they are correct. How old is your LO - could they stay in their seat and you check your seat in ?

the flight is only 6 hrs, but we have a few other flights later in the year too which are long haul, the long haul airlines have said that they can accept up to 17.25 inches (ba/quantas) but the flight to cyprus in 2 wks (thomas cook airlines) said that 16 inches was the max they wud accept???? surely there not going to measure the carseat? And thats a good point about bum sizes......i am a 14 and when i sit down my ass is 16.5 inches lol.....

honestly thou i asked him 3 times regards this 16 inch thing and he was adamant is was 16 inches.....

The worst thing that will happen is they will make you check the seat it - it's only a short flight

TheBlonde · 14/09/2006 14:06

check the seat in, I can't type today

mb, it is very narrow, I normally have them set wider now, but it was great when they first went in them as it was so narrow and so more supportive of him. I haven't measured it, but the halfords site says it goes from 40cms, which is under 16.
