Berlin, Paris or Amsterdam in October?

Which would you choose?

We have 2 DC, aged 3 and almost 7, would be going for about 5 days of October half term.

We'd like to visit some museums, parks, zoos, eat nice food, stroll around, maybe ride a tram or boat - hoping not in the rain or freezing cold, (but I realise that's quite a high possibility!)

Anyone been and have recommendations of child-friendly things to do?

We had a really good family holiday to Berlin last October, we rented an apartment in a lovely neighbourhood with great cafes and restaurants. Museums (e.g.. science museum and transport museum) very good and less busy than London and Paris, the zoo is the best one I have ever been to, loads of old-fashioned toy shops etc. Good public transport and a diverse mixture of parks. Prenzlauer Berg was where we stayed, a bit arty, family friendly, safe. We would love to go back and it is definitely better value for money than Paris. The weather was pleasant, bright, chilly in the morning but with some nice warm afternoons. The kids fondest memories are of the amazing bakeries, best cakes ever. German cuisine and fast food are surprisingly kid friendly too.

Haven't been to Amsterdam for 35 years so can't judge! I personally wouldn't choose Paris with small children, but again haven't been post children.

Another vote for Berlin.

Oh I love Amsterdam, it's a great city for kids. Can't add info now but will come back with more.

Ooh, I have just seen Berlin has an indoor Legoland place. That would be popular with the DC. Has anyone ever been?

We went to Berlin at Easter with DC of a similar age to yours. Loved the city, accommodation is very reasonable too! Berlin zoo is amazing, took them up TV tower, visited the wall remains, had lunch in the Reichstag, visited the museum of East Germany and the technological museum and on a boat trip down the river. Also did the lego centre. It was ok, not great, doable in half a day and only worth it if you get it half price through on line advance booking but alright on a rainy day.
Plenty to do, much more reasonable than Paris. We stayed near the teirgarden, which was great for space and parks.

You can book a free tour of the reichstag which has stunning views over Berlin. Berlin travel pass is good to hop on and off underground.

That all sounds fantastic, love the sound of your trip LordofmyFlies, especially the Museum of East Germany, just looked at the website for that and it looks excellent. Feeling quite sold on Berlin now.
