Bit cheaper than what?
December is busy as the weather is good and Americans go down for the holidays then too. Off peak is August because of the rains and hurricane risk.
I usually book flights independently as I have places to stay over there already but I have been through a specialist USA tour operator who was able to book a holiday cheaper than many package deals.
What are you planning on doing? That will be key in terms of finding the best deals.

OH I was thinking bit cheaper than staying over Christmas, and flying bit ealier as many schools still will not break up for the end of term.
To be honest i dont know what can we do there except Disney and Universal studio.
Any names of agents I could contact for some help?
Thanks

We went at this time of year. Be aware that the weekend before Christmas onwards is peak peak season so avoid that. It's a good time of year for us, not a lot of rain, not that hot, low queues.

We booked through Thomas Cook last time, it was marginally cheaper to DIY but only marginally but it depends what kind of accommodation/car/flights you want.

With children of the ages you have I would do Disney/Legoland/Seaworld and give Universal a miss.

It sounds like a perfect type of weather for us too, I dont like heat either...Ill pop to town tomorrow and pick some brochures from thomas Cook.
