Car hire excess insurance

Is this always recommended? Does it cover all eventualities?

Have booked it before but not sure whether to do so again. All opinions/stories gratefully received.

Thanks

I've just taken it out for the first time this year (with the AA). As far as i can read in the policy document it cover most eventualities, even tyre damage. With our policy you have to pay the excess, then claim it back on your insurance.

It's cost us less to take out an annual excess insurance than it would be to take it out with the hire company (two drivers for 1 week in Spain).

Thanks for that.

Yes I noticed that it seems cheaper for the annual. Haven't looked at AA and I am a member so might do that. It is working out more expensive than travel insurance, it would seem.

I use this company - never had to claim so can't comment on that!
