Tuscany/Umbria - Lake Trasimeno

Anyone any advice please . How easy is Lake Trasimeno to get around ie to cross from Passignano to Castiglione. Are there buses to local attractions and towns or best to hire a car ?

Went to Trasimeno about 10 years ago, and it may be more developed now, but then it was quite rural, with small bits of official beach, small camp sites sprinkled round it, odd bar etc, think you would def want a car, although think there's a ferry type thing for crossing the lake...

Can't offer advice about public transport but we went last year, had a hire car for our holiday, and drove from Castiglione to Passignano. There's a fast route connecting the two sides now so you can either do fast or slower and scenic (to be fair it's all scenic). Have caffé in the piazza at Castiglione when the bells toll - fab. Enjoy.
