Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

OP posts:

I also pray we've done enough to get the new passport application processed and sent back by Friday, so angry that they're classing it as a new application. I knew they'd find a way of ruining things Angry
haha x

Potnoodle that's awful. I can't think what else you could do short of turning up at the office and refusing to leave without your passport! Has your mp called you? Mine has been really helpful.

Fingers crossed for you pushpins. Where is it? Could you go and get it?

I'm still having a nightmare too. I was told this morning that my passport would be dispatched today and to call back after 4 for a tracking number. I couldn't get through, and the online system still says awaiting processing! I sense I may be driving up to Peterborough on Monday :-(

pushpins · 19/07/2014 00:28

the new application form and the new photos, and the new countersignature, and the covering letter (because I no longer have a passport number to add on the application, because they have it) and sent it all off and they will be with them tomorrow by 1pm guaranteed.

I will ring Monday to start uber pestering, MP has sent them an email begging for me to be able to pick it up, as it stands it's not even processed let alone printed. Mine however has a tracking number but they've not actually told me where I can track it? so now I just have a random long number and nowhere to enter it....

I'm so angry that on loud speaker this morning her passport application was sent for upgrading and they said we'd have them soon.... when the passport application was declined three days earlier

APotNoodleandaTommy · 19/07/2014 12:06

Literally just had a call from Liverpool to say it's being printed and sent and will be here Tuesday morning. Can't begin to say how relieved I am but also can't believe how ridiculous this situation is.
To those still waiting, best of luck and I hope you get good news soon.
Despite having a tracking number I won't relax til it's in my hands.

CloserThanYesterday · 19/07/2014 16:09

Yep - trip to Peterborough for me! Spoke to someone this morning. Don't really mind, just happy to be getting it in time!

To anyone else still panicking - keep calling/emailing and generally making a nuisance of yourself. You'll get there!

APotNoodleandaTommy · 19/07/2014 17:37

Aww closer
I hope that isn't too far for you to travel

pushpins · 20/07/2014 00:41

So after having run round like an idiot yesterday to get everything sent and then having to pay £12 to get it delivered today, imagine my horror when I went to track and find out they don't accept post on a weekend Angry
My passport arrived today didn't know whether to laugh or cry, rang passport office was told daughters won't be back at all now so that's our holiday ruined...

APotNoodleandaTommy · 20/07/2014 06:37

Ohhhh Push that's awful, I'm so sorry :(
Hoping for a miracle for you x

Pegtastic · 20/07/2014 15:42

I applied online on 10th June for a renewal for my DS and a brand new passport for my DD. I then got everything countersigned as instructed, photo's, DS's old passport, and birth certificate for DD together and posted them together (advised this would be fine) on Friday 13th June by special delivery to the Glasgow office - which deals with online applications apparently.
Within 1 week we had a text to say passport was ready and on its way - sure enough on Sat 21st a courier delivered my DS's renewal passport. Hurrah! One week - v.impressed.

However : It's now been five weeks and we've heard diddly about my daughters new passport. Thankfully we haven't booked anything yet, but we want to and I'm now starting to get concerned. I wondered if anyone has any idea about process time for new child passports. Stupidly I didn't note the very brief username& password they supply for tracking - so apart from hubby's bank statement showing the payment we made online, we have no way of tracing it. Help?

zobey · 20/07/2014 16:10

Dds passport only took 3 days from when they recived it to me reciving it in my hand. Normal service payed for and it was a 1st passport too.

APotNoodleandaTommy · 20/07/2014 17:48

Peg, my son's first child passport is due here Tuesday and that'll be over 6 weeks!!! And I've had a call today from Paul Pugh's office so it's only due to them escalating it!!!
I honestly think it partly depends on where you are in the country. Liverpool do seem to be the worst offenders at the moment.

pushpins · 21/07/2014 11:03

With renewed hope I decided to call Liverpool passport office this morning since the advise line let me hold for ten minutes and forced me into booking an automatic phone call which never happened

so now I've spent the last half an hour listening to

Passportscare · 21/07/2014 12:03

Had text this morning to say my 3 year old passport it being printed today, they have had it nearly 8 weeks!! It was in Durham but I hadn't chased it apart from a call to the 0300 number. My other sons and husbands renewal were posted at exactly the same time and were back within 3 weeks!

Not sure why they they weren't processed together but it seems that 1st child are taking a long time!

Good luck to everyone waiting .

pushpins · 21/07/2014 12:55

finally got through to Liverpool, told that the paperwork I sent back friday should be heading back to the examiner now

The priority team are now contacting people who travel tuesday/wednesday, then tomorrow people who fly wednesday/thursday, then wednesday contacting those flying thursday/friday.

I'm concerned we're right up to the wire here, but am now expecting a call up to wednesday to find out whether we will be going or not, I was told if I miss the call I've missed my chance so I am best not missing it. At this point I'll be told if I need to make a payment and whether I will be able to pick it up or whether it'll be sent by courier.

here's to another two incredibly tense days!!! Thanks to everyone on here who've kept me sane! The lady I spoke to was super duper helpful! However I'll not be happy until daughters is in my hand.

APotNoodleandaTommy · 21/07/2014 14:58

Good luck, pushpins, have you tried that other number?

pushpins · 21/07/2014 16:45

not just yet - my MP expressly said 'I will chase it from here' so will consider as a last resort. We've gone from a complete cancelled holiday last Friday to a glimmer of hope this morning so fingers crossed!!

sbel1 · 22/07/2014 00:10

Pushpins - Email Paul Pugh with message FAO Farooq.

Sunnybank10 · 22/07/2014 12:56

Received passports from Belfast on 19th July. Applied on 26th May! Very stressful and got my local MP involved. Good Luck everyone.

APotNoodleandaTommy · 22/07/2014 17:58

Passport arrived! Hurrah! Sent off June 6th
HMPO - disgraceful

toomuchicecream · 22/07/2014 18:40

My anguished thread in Chat suggested I come over here for advice - flight booked for Thursday evening, but no call back from the advice line, despite waiting since Saturday, to find out when/if I'll get a passport.

Within 10 minutes of emailing Paul Pugh on the email address above I had a reply from Farooq to say it was being printed and sent tomorrow, so I replied to ask if I could pick it up from somewhere to be on the safe side. 10 minutes after that I had a further reply with a tracking number saying it had already been despatched for delivery tomorrow. Wow - how's that for a quick response?!

(When I've actually got the passport I'll email my MP again to cancel my request for help, but I'm going to wait until it's in my sweaty hand before I do that..)

siobhanita · 22/07/2014 22:43

Hi - does anyone have a number for Durham passport office? Have been told my baby's new passport application is stuck there and going all round the houses and the dreaded 0300 number but nothing is happening - just more and more confusion and every time I call they basically say I'm slowing it down! How can that possibly be?! I see a lot of people have had joy once they speak to a human being in Durham- but I can't find a number for them. Am travelling Saturday and loathe to call 0300 again I case I risk putting us back again...it's an insane situation..

toomuchicecream · 23/07/2014 06:49

Ilovepowerhoop very helpfully listed the Durham number on my thread in chat at about 6pm last night (on phone so can't work out how to do two screens at once to find it). But based on my experience, go straight to an email to Paul Pugh (address on this thread). I got accurate information within 10 minutes, after 6pm when I really didn't expect the office to still be open.

siobhanita · 23/07/2014 07:44

Hi all sorry to keep bugging on this but am desperate for a working number for Durham passport office where my baby's passport is currently stuck. Applied June 13 and supposed to be travelling this weekend. Am tearing my hair out... Can anyone help?

siobhanita · 23/07/2014 07:47

Ah I see I will go and try to find it - am new to mumsnet so find all the threads a bit confusing!
