Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

Can I just ask if everyone receives a text message.

I applied online and sent child renewal a week ago. Registered delivery which they received last Thursday. Have had no text though.

Should I have had one?

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/07/2014 13:41

I emailed my MP (conservative) yesterday and his PA emailed me back within the hour. She had phoned the passport office and is going to phone again to ensure the application is being fast-tracked.

Fingers and everything else crossed.

Jowall · 03/07/2014 16:04

Just an update on my sons passport renewal.
Tried calling Liverpool and it just kept ringing, tried several numbers. So called call centre again and was told they can't do anything till 10th July, 1 week before travel and 1 week from now. I didn't want to leave it so late, so I emailed my local MP and Cc Paul Pugh chief executive at the passport office. I got an immediate response and was called to advice passport has been sent for printing!
So fingers crossed should be with me next week.

JamJimJam · 03/07/2014 16:36

Update on my ds' passport.

It arrived this afternoon.

I sent it (did not use check & send) on 11 June, they received it on 14th. So less than 3 weeks, which is about the same as any other year I have applied.

Hope everyone still waiting gets theirs soon.

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/07/2014 18:37

Yeay, passport office called, will be with me on saturday. MP seems to have worked.

Lookingforadvice123 · 03/07/2014 23:28

Jimjamjim yours was at Peterborough wasn't it? They received yours the day after mine and I still haven't had mine back, stupid! At least I know it's ready to be printed but could still be another 5 working days - there is obviously no clear system!

lexiferluther · 04/07/2014 09:53

Just received a text to say our passports are being printed! I expected them early next week but very relieved that I was right Smile. For those tracking things, ours were child renewals, sent via check & send on 12 June and received at Peterborough on 16 June.

Caz306 · 04/07/2014 11:28

Recieved a letter today for my husbands It says he's got to have an interview why it's took them 5 weeks to let us know that is beyond me!! Hoping mines being done now and hopefully recieve it by end of next week. Fingers crossed!!

suddenlysix · 04/07/2014 12:43

Been reading this thread as I've for 5 applications being processed at the moment, 9 year olds renewal, 1 year old first passport and 3 step childrens firsts. Just got my daughters renewal back today - 3 weeks to the day after I sent it, although only 2 weeks 2 days from their text saying they'd received it. Went to Peterborough. Looking forward to the possibility of getting the others back now.

Norem · 04/07/2014 13:06

Word of warning, If you get a letter from Liverpool saying passport will be with you soon, don't sit back and relax.
We had this dates June 18 th we fly on Sunday and passport still not here.
After phoning all wee they told us to send new pics yesterday!
They arrived there this morning and we are being fast tracked apparently.
We are in Glasgow so I don't fancy our chances of getting it in time:(

Jowall · 04/07/2014 13:41

Norem. Email chief executive of passport office, I got a phone call within 20 mins of email from his secretary, don't leave it to the call centre you don't get anywhere

Norem · 04/07/2014 14:08

Jowall · 04/07/2014 14:15

Norem · 04/07/2014 14:17

Found one and sent it, thanks for the tip

KristinB · 04/07/2014 15:30

Hi everyone, I'm new to the thread. My son's first passport was received yesterday and it was being processed for 5 weeks in total. We did contact our MP to chase it. My husband's passport, which was a supporting document, has not been returned yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for the supporting documents to be returned?

Norem · 04/07/2014 16:35

Jowell just had a reply from her she is looking into it thanks x

Jowall · 04/07/2014 19:10

No problem Norem hope you get it in time

newrecruit · 05/07/2014 11:27

Still no text message. 9 days after they received it at Liverpool.

Should I ring them?

Norem · 05/07/2014 12:57

Jowall thank you again he has just picked it up in Liverpool :)))))))

KristinB · 05/07/2014 15:54

Newrecruit- The first text I received was five weeks after they received our forms to say that our passport was being printed.

Lookingforadvice123 · 05/07/2014 20:16

My passport has arrived woohoo!

Might as well put my timescales:
11th June sent via post office c&s (adult renewal)
Same day called helpline in a panic as all the news stories came out, was told it was too late to pull back my app and fast track but that I would get a confirmation text once app was received, and that I could call and pay to upgrade 48 hrs after that
Never received the text so one week after sending app, called Newport directly was was told it would go there, they said app had been received in Peterborough on 13th June
24th June called Peterborough to query status, was told it was in holding area and wouldn't be looked at for weeks, but booked a callback to pay to fast track the following week
Same day emailed MP and Paul Pugh saying how concerned I was, they said they'd look into it for me
2nd July received a call offering fast track, queried status of app and was told it was processed and just needed printing, so decided not to fast track
5th July passport arrived!

So 3 weeks and one weekend day from Peterborough receiving it

Jowall · 05/07/2014 21:35

Norem, so glad you got sorted x

pind123 · 06/07/2014 10:44

Hi, this is my first post, just been reading all the messages on here, and you would have to say its the best forum for helpfulness and advice!!!!

I have an overseas application for my 4 month DS, and my application had gone to Liverpool Office. Unlike you guys who are all trying to get out of the country, im actually trying to get back in lol! My original British passport is with my DS's application so I cant travel unless I request it back (not that I would travel and leave him behind)

I too have rang the 0300 number, and spoke to many of the operators from Bangor, Newport, and, somewhere else. I have found that most of the operators will say anything to get you off the phone, only some of them will look into it further. They all have the same information to hand - although its never up to date!! sometimes they can find your application and sometimes not....and yes they give out different information as to where your application actually is! Do not waste your time on this number, you probably already know more than them..

No one ever calls you back, well I have never had a call back in the 6 escalations I put in!
I emailed Paul Pugh, Theresa May, and my MP, also the various email addresses for Liverpool, and Newport. Paul Pugh and Theresa May ignore your emails and they get sent to Newport to look into and respond back with a generic email saying your sons application is currently going through routine checks and until these checks are complete we are not in a position to issue a passport. i ask the question roughly how long? as I have to ship over more essential for him etc and I get the same response! asking for call backs, escalating them has no effect whatsoever.
Even the MP's office ignore my phone messages and emails. On this site there was one person who said tweet them - Tried it this morning - it works!!!! MP came back to me in half an hour and asked me to re-email everything to him....so I would suggest using twitter if you aren't getting anywhere!

Unfortunately I cant try the 0845 numbers because from abroad they only ring for about 30 seconds then cut off - so no chance for me to hold on for even an hour.

Oout of desperation I have applied for an ETD at the embassy, the Embassy however have emailed the Home office, who have in turn emailed the Passport office for approval - Great so back to Liverpool!

I don't understand what they need approval for, when they have all original documents with them including my DS's British Citizenship Certificate??

Getting well annoyed, all I want to do is come back home so I can enjoy this happy time as a first time parent and share this joy with the rest of my family!

ShakyTheStork · 06/07/2014 11:07

I am waiting for ds first passport.

Posted 31st may by check and send.

I phoned passport office Friday 4 th July. They told me it has been with the examiner since 5th June!

We are travelling on 18th July to Poland for my brothers' wedding.

The passport office told me that they would contact me in 2 days, still waiting. I will call them direct tomorrow.

KristinB · 06/07/2014 11:28

ShakyTheStork- Similar timeline to mine. Contact your MP. My passport was printed the next day after contacting my MP. I think they can really push things through.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get supporting documents returned? We have received our DS's passport, but my husband's passport was a supporting document and we can't travel without it.
