Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

OP posts:

Trying to reassure those of you waiting for renewals, I posted it on 7th June , didn't do check and send, had text to say they'd received it on 11 June and got my passport in post today. Seems it is 3 weeks just about for a renewal.

Cahu5 · 30/06/2014 18:35

Re above, it went to Durham.

Talea · 30/06/2014 18:45

cahu5 your timings are exactly the same as mine except that mine went to Peterborough, I posted it on 7th June, they received it on 11th June, I got a phone call yesterday to say it was in the queue for printing but still no passport.

Hopefully I will get it this week. I won't be able to completely relax until I have it in my hand.

Hulababy · 30/06/2014 21:02

SoftKittyWarmKitty Just seen your post about a similar mess up with Passport Offices being used, with Durham/Belfast. Any further news?

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 30/06/2014 22:04

It came last Friday Hulababy. Have your parents got theirs yet?

Hulababy · 30/06/2014 22:05

Their passports arrived today.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 30/06/2014 22:42

Great news!

blondebird69 · 01/07/2014 08:55

Passports arrived this morning ! Got a message from my DH to say they had arrived. He tried to wind me up by saying there was a spelling mistake on my daughters name.......not funny !!

So relieved and only took 3 weeks from them receiving it or 3 weeks 5 days from sending so I guess they are getting their act together. Good luck to the rest of the people waiting and happy holidays x

Just wanted to add a positive story! Did an online application for a child's renewal. Sent it off recorded delivery (couldn't do check and send for online apparently) last Tuesday. I received it yesterday. So a very quick 6 day turnaround. It went to Glasgow so I don't know if they are quicker? Or maybe I was just lucky. I am hoping this means the backlog is clearing though.

Caz306 · 01/07/2014 09:33

Well last Friday Paul pughs office rang me said they would chase my applications up but still nothing as yet!!

Caz306 · 01/07/2014 10:05

Oh 5 weeks and counting too! Renewal and husbands first adult

lurkingmurking · 01/07/2014 11:33

Despite Belfast saying on Friday that they'd get our applications looked at there is no sign of our passports and the Belfast number is now permenantly engaged.

Spoke to the 0300 number who were crap and just said 'oh it's still not been examined'.

So I've emailed our MP and just spoken to someone in the office. We fly on the 9th but have to go down to my parents this weekend so I really really need them this week.

SummerSazz · 01/07/2014 12:54

Mine (dd's first renewal) was received from check and send on 6 june (I think in Liverpool) and have had a text saying printed today so 3 weeks and 4 days with no chasing.

Wow. I will never moan about my MP again! Within 2 hrs of speaking to her office I got a call from the passport office to say they're being printed tomorrow.

A word of warning to everyone - if it's a child's renewal make sure your countersignatory is available. They called mine to confirm details.

So mine should be here by Thursday RM special delivery. Phew!

MrsGoslingWannabe · 01/07/2014 13:08

Hmm, my DD's countersignatory is her teacher so bit tricky trying to contact them during the day. Anybody else use teachers?

DreamToppingWithSprinkles · 01/07/2014 13:48

I applied by Check and Send for a child's passport renewal. Timeline as follows;

9th June - check and send at local Post Office. This was my 3rd attempt over as many days, having made mistakes which the checker had spotted and then asked me to re-do the forms, so it was money well spent for me.

12th June - text to say application had been received (no idea which office though. We're in Brum).

Today - text to say the passport was being printed and will be with us in next few days.

Great relief here as we fly out on 6th August and I was beginning to regret not doing Fast Track.

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 01/07/2014 14:12

Liverpool.

Childs first passport, been with them 3 weeks, had to chase it as need it ASAP, just got a call back took 24 hrs, being printed today and should arrive tomorrow. Thank god!

Be11e · 01/07/2014 15:15

Glad the call came ThePrisonerOfAzkaban, still waiting on mine. Did they contact counter signatory? Mine is on holiday so wondering if this may delay things.

Talea · 01/07/2014 15:54

Passport is here! Phew! Now I can relax and start sleeping again.

Timeline as follows:

Applied by Check and Send on 7th June

Filled in the track my application form on 17th June. No response within 48 hours. Called the 0300 number on 20th June who said it was at Peterborough, received on 11th June and waiting for examination.

Received email on 23rd June as response to my tracking request which said same thing as the lady on 0300.

Called the Peterborough office on 27th June who said that they were processing 9th June and my application would most likely be looked at this week.

On Sunday 29th June got a phone call from Peterborough to say it was in the queue for printing.

Arrived through the door today. Funnily enough the very nice lady I spoke to at the call centre on 20th June told me that she would expect me to receive it by 01 July.

I am so relieved, have to pay the balance of my holiday today so quite delighted that I can do so without worrying that we are going to lose our holiday.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting. It does look like they are getting through the backlog now though, as there seem to be a lot of people getting their passports within the 3 weeks of it having been received.

Fingers crossed for you all!

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 01/07/2014 16:26

Be11e

No they didn't contact the counter signer, well that I am aware of anyways.

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/07/2014 18:45

The service from Peterborough is sh*t in fairness. I've had literally no contact from them to update me on the status, I emailed Paul Pugh's PA on The weekend basically pleading with her to find out the status, and she was told by them that it would be looked at today. When I called last week I was also told that I would get a call back today to upgrade to fast track. So nothing from them at all today, she has chased them and now apparently my application will be looked at tomorrow??? So not only were the wrong about looking at it today, but why no call back to upgrade to fast track?? I stressed on the phone last week that I was happy to pay the fee, don't they want to make money off me!

Talea · 01/07/2014 18:54

lookingforadvice123 hopefully they will look at your application today, they are still working overtime so maybe someone will do it tonight.

Fingers crossed you will get a call tomorrow to tell you it's being printed.

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/07/2014 21:54

Thanks Tallea!

RainbowsStars · 01/07/2014 22:22

Had a text from Glasgow today to say it is being printed, it took four weeks.
