Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

Those with passports at Peterborough - the lady I spoke to said that they were meeting the 3 week deadline. DS's passports (1 renewal and 1 first) were sent 29/5, txt confirming receipt 3/6, txt confirming printing 23/6, passports received 24/6. Exactly 3 weeks. Countersignatory was not contacted.

Djturtle21 · 27/06/2014 17:49

Amazing news my passport came! Spoke to Durham on Wednesday saying I'm travelling on the 11th and I was worried, also contacted my local mp who contacted h.m.p. got a text today saying it was printed , got home from work and it was through the door! I really hope everyone gets there's in time!

Talea · 27/06/2014 18:39

clarinsgirl That's great news that you have your passports but I am not so hopeful of receiving mine anytime soon. Dd's passport renewal has been in the holding area in Peterborough since 11 June. I spoke to a very nice man today who told me they are currently working on passports from 9th June and that they might get to mine next week. It will be 3 weeks since posting next Wednesday and I don't expect to get her passport by then. He said I should have it by 11 July which will be 4 and a half weeks after they received it.

MrsAFlowerpot · 27/06/2014 19:26

Mine is at Peterborough. It was received on 9th June and I spoke to someone tonight who said it would be checked Tuesday.

chocchoc30 · 27/06/2014 19:52

Must be Belfast who are quite behind then. I don't think I'll sleep well tonight as I will be praying it arrives ok.

Fairiesdance1 · 27/06/2014 21:09

I sent my 2 child renewals check and send on 3rd June. Received them on 6th June. Got text on 9th June. Phoned on 24th told they were at durham and to call next week as three weeks was not up till fri 27th. Got text today saying they were being printed shoukd get in next couple of days. Delievered this afternoon by courier. So three weeks from passport being received to getting them back.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 27/06/2014 21:21

DS's passport arrived today! Phew! Four weeks and a day since I sent it via check and send.

Choc looking forward to your update tomorrow saying it's arrived.

blondebird69 · 27/06/2014 22:52

Fairies I send mine on 5th June got text on 10th to say received. They went to Durham. I have called and been told that they are not being looked at til 10th July. Really hoping that as mine are two days behind yours that I may get a text next week.

They are two child renewals. Fairies what is your travel date?
Really hope it is all going to be ok all I can think about are these pesky passports!!

Hi,

I've been following this thread with much anticipation and worry and thought I would share my story - please if you are worried and your passport is stuck in the Belfast office, please ring the direct office number 02890789464, the staff were really helpful and friendly!

29th of May - Applied for passport renewal with post office Check and Send

2nd of June - Passport office sent texted saying passport had been received

23rd of June - 3 weeks after being received, rang Passport office help line 0300 number only to be told that the passport had not been looked at yet. was informed passport was in Belfast office.

24th of June - Mailed Paul Pugh directly - Although received no response

25th of June - scoured mums net, to locate the direct number for the belfast office. notably 0845 number provided continually went through to voice mail, so rang other advertised Belfast office number: 02890789464 - took 3 attempts (2 times phone connected straight to answer phone, third time lady answered). I got through to a really helpful lady who said that she would "print my examination form" and pass my details directly onto the examining team tomorrow and the passport would be with me on either Friday 27th or Saturday 28th

27th - Got a text to say my passport had been printed at 11am and received passport this afternoon at 4pm.

Although I must stress that I think the backlog must be finally being cleared and that people are receiving there passports within the expected 3 week deadline. As one of my colleagues at work, who also sent there passport for renewal 6 days after me on the 4th of June, posting it directly to the Peterborough office without check and send, received there passport back on the 25th of June, a total of 7 days before me and i sent mine check and send and went through the stress and hassle of ringing and ringing and ringing the passport office - they never contacted them once as they weren't going on holiday until december, so weren't worried about getting it back asap.

Hope everyone else gets sorted soon

Be11e · 28/06/2014 09:45

Update from me. Liverpool office is dealing with child's first passport application. We have travel booked for 20th July.

Received 2nd June, payment taken from credit card
Text confirmation on 3rd June
As of 28th June my application is yet to be looked at

My counter signatory is on holiday and has limited availability on return. I'm getting so nervous that this will come down to the final week.

I desperately want to upgrade to fast track but can't even get a call from the upgrade team. I've been waiting since Sunday for a call back. It's now been escalated, whatever that means,

I've noticed the last few times I've called they don't say 48 hours for callback, instead they say 2 working days. I would hope that in this chaos every day is a working day. I reckon they're just trying to minimise the number of complaints regarding no callbacks. Anyone else hearing this? So stressed, I can't even think about the holiday.

chocchoc30 · 28/06/2014 10:19

Still nothing here yet, not sure if our postman is delivering it or its coming by van either way I wish it would hurry up.

chocchoc30 how was it sent? If Royal Mail special delivery I think it comes by van. If they sent it via their courier (Dx) , ring them and they can look it up on their system using your post code.

Royal mail special delivery I have a tracking number for it and it says it's out for delivery.

chocchoc30 · 28/06/2014 13:44

It's here :). Never ever do I want to go through that again.

blondebird69 · 28/06/2014 13:47

So pleased for you choc glad it worked out . I have just had an email from Paul Pughs senior assistant and she has asked Durham to look at my two dc passports. I guess this means they might now come out of the queue for examination ? All this ontop of grieving for my mum has made me so miserable .

Be11e · 28/06/2014 14:13

Excellent news chocchoc30, you can relax now! holeySocksBatman. I've been in the same position waiting for a call from Liverpool since Sunday. Don't hold your breath. Was it a renewal? How long have they had it?

chocchoc30 · 28/06/2014 14:42

Good luck to the rest of you waiting x

Thanks caz306 for advice. I phoned Belfast on 0300 number on Thursday. to a call back Friday lunch time. I hadn't signed my cheque

Sunnybank10 · 28/06/2014 17:00

sorry pressed wrong button wanted to include embarrassed face! I got told a letter was sent 29th May(I think I would have noticed a letter from passport office arriving).Any way had to then ring 0845 number to Belfast to pay over the phone ,that took 1hr 20mins to get through. Now I just have wait was told to ring back in a week. Wish me luck!

Caz306 · 28/06/2014 17:17

Oh no sunny bank :-/ well at least you've paid now and hopefully they won't keep u waiting too long. Xx

PinkiePromise · 28/06/2014 18:09

blondebird your dates for sending are nearly identical to mine for Durham and DD's passport arrived this morning after receiving a text yesterday to say it was being printed, under their 3 week target from when they received it? I had phoned the 0300 on Wednesday and told them I travel on July 15th, but that was it, so I can't understand why someone told you that yours wouldn't be looked at until the 10th. I hope that now you have gone to the top that it gets sorted quickly for you.

Fingers crossed for everyone else waiting.

Fetacat · 28/06/2014 19:51

Had child's first passport through the letterbox today. Sent 28th May went to Liverpool. Traveling 5th july. Heard nothing for 3 and a half week then rang 0300 and said we would get a callback re upgrade. This call never came. Called back again and said they would email Liverpool again to 'escalate'. Tried phoning Liverpool direct but never got through! We had taken matters into our own hands about 5 days earlier emailed Paul Pugh and local MP. Our MP was on the case and contacted Liverpool for us. Yesterday I got a call saying it had been printed and later a text and today a passport was on the doormat! Didnt have to sign. Phew! 4 and a half weeks from posting to receipt. Good luck everyone. Keep pestering!
