Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

sbel1 · 25/06/2014 22:09

Does anyone know a farruk in passport office?

SaveTheMockingBird · 25/06/2014 22:34

After getting the text this morning that the passport was being printed, it was put through the letterbox today when I got home! So they took exactly 3wks.
Good luck to everyone on this thread.

Bozzle · 25/06/2014 22:58

I was trying not to worry about my passport renewal... I posted it on 29th May recorded next day delivery.I have checked online tracking thing and it says its 'Declaration form received, being processed' Its been like that for 3 weeks. Ive tried calling 0300 222 0000 but it is never answered. Do I just keep trying? Who else can I call? Whats the 0845 number people are trying? We travel in a month - 25 July so I guess Ive got time but.....its bugging me now.

Be11e · 25/06/2014 23:05

Bozzle keep trying the number, you'll get through eventually. Memorise the number sequence for your query to minimise your frustration. I've noticed that after a few minutes on hold it transfers to automatic callback. They sometimes callback.

funambulist · 26/06/2014 09:28

Bozzie you need to find out which Passport Office your renewal has gone to. You can only find this out from the 0300 helpline number, so do persist until you get through. When you do manage to speak to someone ask them where it has gone. You can then get the 0845 number for that Passport Office from this or the previous thread and phone them direct to find out what is happening.

SaveTheMockingBird so pleased you have your passport. Nice to have some good news on this thread!

I called the Belfast Office for an update today. I sent my son's child renewal off via check and send on 2 June. It was received by Belfast on 5 June. They had said to call back when they'd had it 3 weeks to find out what's happening. It's three weeks today.

Today's update is that nothing is happening yet. They are currently working on applications received on 2 June and would hope to get to applications received on 5 June sometime next week. They are upgrading those with travel booked in the next 7 days and, as this doesn't apply to me, they said I was better off holding on until next week, at which point there is a reasonable chance that my application will have reached an examiner. From that point it should be quite quick provided there aren't any problems with the application itself. Fingers crossed.

jazzypinkpuppet · 26/06/2014 10:41

sons passport just arrived (renewal), 3 weeks 1 day after they received it in Peterborough, I think they must be working quite quickly through them now. hope everyone gets theirs soon xx

sunshinehopeful · 26/06/2014 12:43

funambulist my application was received June 3rd and my passport arrived yesterday! The guy (William) I spoke to on Monday told me that my application "was on the floor" ie on an examiners desk because they were working thru June 3rd work.

I think you'll have it soon!

Feeling very nervy today. I'm stuck at work and have yet to hear about passport. Is it worth chasing it up again?

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/06/2014 13:27

jazzy what date did your son's passport arrive at Peterborough? Sounds like they've actually gotten more of a back log since I spoke to them this week, seeing as that one was turned around so quickly!

jazzypinkpuppet · 26/06/2014 13:43

it arrived at Peterborough 4th June, just a standard child renewal x

jazzypinkpuppet · 26/06/2014 13:49

I think the backlogs will get bigger as people panic and send their passports in earlier than they would have done, I personally know four people who have done this even though they don't need their passports until December or even next year. Hope you get yours soon Lookngforadvice123

Twitterqueen · 26/06/2014 14:04

Passports have arrived just now. I sent them on the 2nd or 3rd of June, got the acknowledgement on the 6th, got the txt yesterday to say they were being printed - and here they are. Smile

I allowed plenty of time (not going til August, but the whole process has taken around 3 weeks, which is great.

1st adult passport for two DCs
1 child renewal for DC

I didn't use check and send.

chocchoc30 · 26/06/2014 14:16

Just called again it will be with us sat am. Talk about cutting it fine!!!!

jazzypinkpuppet · 26/06/2014 14:24

Phew ChocChoc I am really pleased for you, hope you have a wonderful holiday, you deserve it after all this x

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/06/2014 14:46

Thanks jazzy I really hope so. I'm not filled with confidence so as soon as the 3 weeks are up I'm going to pay the £55 to fast track, just praying I get the call back! If not that'll be another god knows how much spent on my mobile on hold to them.

chocchoc good luck, update us on Saturday!!

funambulist · 26/06/2014 15:12

sunshinehopeful I do hope so, but I know that at the moment my application hasn't even got out of the starting gate, as it were, and the person I spoke to at Belfast said that they were currently working on applications received 2 June. I fear that because I do have a few weeks before I travel it's going to get pushed to the back of the queue until it becomes urgent.

Hulababy · 26/06/2014 15:24

Parents now having a nightmare.

Passports sent for renal 5.5 weeks ago.
Old passports came back 2 weeks ago.
Holiday is in 2 weeks time

Had info originally to say they were in Belfast (we are in Yorkshire) and they were being checked.

This week they were told they were in Durham and ready to be printed - as they have had passport back you would expect so.

Yesterday they were told they are in Belfast and are new applicants and need an interview!!!

Local MP is now on the case.

argh!

I've just sent them the direct numbers for Belfast and Durham, from these threads.

Can anyone confirm the numbers for me?

Thanks.

funambulist · 26/06/2014 15:30

Hulababy What! That is outrageous!

Belfast number is 0845 6019031. I rang them this morning.

vinoandbrie · 26/06/2014 15:34

Phew, baby DD's passport has finally arrived, following my mercy mission to Liverpool passport office on Monday.

I hadn't realised that they needed a signature. We love in a house and I had thought they would put through the letterbox. Not so, we had to sign for it, got a note through yesterday asking us to rearrange delivery.

I was sure others had received theirs through the letterbox?

vinoandbrie · 26/06/2014 15:35

We live in a house: not love. I blame the phone!

Hulababy · 26/06/2014 15:38

Nightmare! Especially if it is in Belfast as can't drive and get it.
But they have had old passports back with corners cut off so they've definitely been checked.

funambulist · 26/06/2014 15:47

Hulababy that is so strange.

I wonder if they processed the renewals and then by mistake sent back the old passports before issuing the new ones, then, because they didn't have the old passports thought they were first applications rather than renewals?

Sounds like a good idea to get an MP on the case to sort it out. I guess the first step is to find out whether the application is at Durham or Belfast.

I wonder whether they will need your parents to send back the old passports to prove that they are in fact a renewals?

Hulababy · 26/06/2014 15:49

Really hoping not now as only 2 and a bit weeks til holiday
