me and dh are having a romantic break at the Didsbury House Hotel this weekend, just wondered if anyone can recommend places to eat and drink that are nice. And what is manchester like on a saturday night (we are from Cardiff so used to Beirut) and where do people go? TIA

Depends what you're after, Manchester can be wild west in places. If over 30 like me and dh you might like the Castlefield area which is off Deansgate. More pubs and bars for older (i.e not under 20) people. Some nice places to eat including The Ox (gastropub with good reputation) and Dimitris (greek in case the name didn't give it away)

Didsbury and its near neighbour Chorlton have lots of bars and eateries and are considered trendy and cool, although a bit hooray sometimes

yeah dont want it too mad, get enough of that here, just somewhere nice to have a drink and a meal, maybe a few more on saturady night. So Castlefield is in the centre is it for Saturday? Probably go out in Didsbury on the friday so any recommendations there would be great. Do we need to book for the Ox and is it overly expensive?

Sorry too many questions

Probably do need to book the Ox, and wouldn't recommend it if you are anti smoking as dining isn't separate from drinking. The Knott Mill and Cask are 2 local bars round there that have a good selection of ales.

Not been out round Didsbury for ages so don't really know where's good anymore.

Your hotel is meant to be fab.
