Denver -have you been? If so, what's it like?

I'm thinking of joining DH on a business trip there but I'm wondering what other people's experiences of Denver are. I would be flying there 30 weeks pregnant. Thanks in advance for opinions/views.

I have a couple of friends who are flight attendants and they say it's one of their least favourite stopovers.

Hi I went years ago when I did some travelling in my early 20s so memory might be a bit faded. we didn't spend that much time in Denver but went to a music festival, to the Colorado Rockies baseball game, and to Molly browns house who survived the Titanic.

just over an hour away, I think where:
Manitou springs was interesting old indian houses
Colorado springs waterfalls- really beautiful
buffalo Bills grave
red rock park
garden of the gods-stunning
rocky mountain national park-stunning
old gold mines and abandoned wild west town (ghost town).
loads of other stuff/places that I've forgotten.
it was really hot when we went 80s/90s in June, but we drove to Aspen and it was still snowing.
The people were friendly and all the old men wore cowboy hats.

Yup, they wear those big cowboy hats without irony. I couldn't stop staring.

And if you fly to anywhere close you might find yourself in a tiny, tiny, rickety looking 20 seater plane..... (And now I've just re-read your OP.....)

My FIL lives there and we love it - have only been in winter so far though, have a summer trip planned this year. It is in my opinion, one of the more 'cosmpolitan' US cities, great scenery, café culture, great restaurants.

It's a long way to go at 30 weeks though, about ten hours direct assuming you're UK?

I've only ever passed through en-route to skiing in the Rockies. The airport is huge and the city looks very flat and a bit boring Grin

Thanks very much for the replies. Unintentionalthreadkiller - it's good to know you like it.
