Trip abroad alone with a toddler?

Hi, I'm really hoping someone can help with advice/recommendations for a trip away with dd in late September/early august?
Dd will be 20 months by then, she is already running around, climbing and generally busy 'doing' most of the day. I am a single parent, but really want to take her on a nice sun holiday. Looking at the balerics mostly, but open to ideas.

Has anyone experienced this or similar, or am I mad to consider it?

We went to Sensatori Crete a couple of years ago and I would definitely go there with a little one. We met a couple of single parents and its very child friendly. Kids pool is fab! Child care available if needed. Not cheap and September would be lovely time to go avoiding school holidays and the heat.
