Can anyone recommend a few things that are appropriate for under 5s for a day out in Portsmouth/Southsea please? DH wants to do all the big ships but I think DCs may be too young. Thanks

The aquarium is fun and has a splash area outside but within it. There are seafront amusements and rides?

Southsea castle is lovely for the under 5s. There's a children's room with building/dressing up/colouring/jigsaws. Also a play castle for role play.

If you're brave enough, there's the dungeons down below, or you can walk around the top. Gorgeous views to the IOW. Lovely child friendly cafe too.

Just along the seafront is canoe lake, where there's a miniature railway, park and boating lake.

Probably a bit late but my DC love going down to the front in Southsea & watching the hovercraft come in. You can stand right by the dock and it happens pretty often. It is close to the amusement arcade. There's also a really good playground on the green opposite which is usually empty.

Thank you all. We did the big boats and actually it worked really well. But weather wasn't great, we would have done beach/castle otherwise.
