City and beach destinations in Europe?

Hi, any ideas for combining a short city break with time at the beach? We would be travelling in July.

Barcelona, Valencia and Nice are all cities with beaches that we've enjoyed. Nice beach is pebbly though so better to hop on the train to Antibes, Cannes, or indeed anywhere else nearby for a day at the beach.

Would second those mentioned above. Montpellier would be another good one. Or Venice.

Copenhagen, Lisbon, Sorrento.

Another vote for Lisbon, it is a fantastic city, and the beaches are only about 45mins away.
