Spending a week visiting assorted friends & family 'oop north' in September, including Manchester, Grimsby and possibly Leeds and York.

It will be the first time that 6 month old (7 months when we go) DD will have slept away from home (bar one night months ago), and having only just got her to stop waking 6 times a night (hurrah for controlled crying!) I'm not looking forward to getting her to sleep in a strange cot (we have a travel one that we'll take with us) in a strange hotel, that will most likely not be pitch black and completely silent like her room (we live middle of nowhere so no noise or streetlights to disturb her)!

If she shares a room with us then I will not sleep, and her sleep won't be as good as DH's snoring will most likely wake her!

So, can anyone recommend any hotels or B&Bs in any of these areas that have rooms with separate rooms off them that would be suitable for DD, particularly if you know that the rooms are very dark and quiet?

Or am I simply asking too much and should resign myself to a week without sleep?!

I've heard of people putting the travel cot in the en-suite bathroom.

I always recommend travel inn's, you can't put the kids in the seperate room tho, unless you use the bathroom, but they do have space to co-sleep in beds if you need to, we stayed in one on way to hols last week and could get all 5 of us in the bed in the morning, as you do when they wake up!! premiertravelinn
