Tunisia - have I made a huge mistake?

Fancied going somewhere a bit different this October, have been to Canaries so booked to go to Tunisia for a week. Am now really scared I've done the wrong thing! Has anyone been in October? What will the weather be like? Do we need vacinations? Sorry for so many questions, after years of going to various Spanish places it feels like I've been really wild & daring!

You'll love it. Fascinating place, the weather should be pretty great around then but do take sun block. Check with your GP re jabs, but suspect that you'll just need to be up to date with your tetanus and maybe have typhoid?

I was in the same situation as you at the beginning of the year - I booked to go February half-term after years of holidaying in Tenerife. I read the weather wasn't too good and was dredding it. Didn't have any vacinations. We had a truly magical holiday and really enjoyed it. In fact, it was nicer because it wasn't too hot so we could enjoy the trip to the Sahara (highly recommend but a long couple of days and our dds (8,5) were well behaved for this).

when and where in oct are you going? we are going at the end of oct and i am quite apprehensive as we have only done the continent before.

I went years ago and i'm sure we had to have a couple of vaccinations before we went. However, don't take my word for it as this was about 17 years ago.

we went in Nov and we were carried away with bikins and sarongs, and it wasn't that warm (less than 20 degrees most days). there are some really interesting things there though - El Jem amphitheatre is excellent and you can get in the dungeons under the arena - very creepy!

we are also going to hammenett but not until the 29th. i have been told that the weather will be good althpugh possibly a bit chilly in the evening.
found a site called holiday truths with gives lots of info.

I went at the end of April and it rained solidly for a week, but that was unusual. We went on the 3 day trip into the desert and it was FAB and HOT.

jennster · 12/09/2006 23:22

I also went to Egypt (not too far away) the last week of November and the days were very short like they are here but very warm while the sun was out.

have a look on www.holdiays-uncovered.com

Find a post from last year, but for October. They normally mention what the weather is like.
