What currency to take to Marrakech?

Has anybody been there recently who can advise on what currency to take? A lot of the information seems to be priced in euros and I am wondering whether they prefer euros or whether it's a pragmatic decision to do so with 250 million Europeans on the doorstep.

I think we took US dollars.

You can't buy the local currency outside of the country itself. But any strong western currency (euros, US dollars, sterling) will be accepted.
